Ashgrove Asylum is a fiction project. This site publishes short horror stories presented as recovered records from an invented hospital. It is not a medical service, a healthcare provider, or a real institution, and it offers no medical or psychological advice.
The short version
This site does not collect anything about you. There are no accounts, no sign-up, no newsletter, no comments, no analytics, and no advertising or tracking cookies. Nothing you type into any page on this site is stored or transmitted anywhere.
What the site is
Every page here is a static file. There is no database, no server-side code and no session. Visiting a page sends your browser a document, and that is the end of the transaction.
The staff portal
The page at /portal/ is a puzzle, not a login. No account exists behind it and none can be created. The form is handled entirely inside your browser: it has no submission target, it makes no network request, and it writes nothing to your browser's storage. Nothing entered there reaches us, because there is nowhere for it to go.
Never type a real password into it. It is a prop, and no page on this site will ever legitimately ask you for a credential.
Who else is involved
Serving a website necessarily involves other companies. These are all of them:
- Vercel hosts the site. Like any web host it keeps standard server logs of requests — IP address, time, page requested, browser user agent — to deliver pages and to protect against abuse. We do not query those logs to identify visitors and do not combine them with anything else.
- Cloudflare is the domain's registrar and DNS provider, so it resolves the address of this site when you visit it.
- Google Fonts serves the two typefaces the site uses. Loading a font from Google discloses your IP address to Google, as loading any third-party resource would. If you would rather avoid that, a content blocker will stop the request and the site will fall back to fonts already on your device.
Each of those companies handles that data under its own privacy policy, not ours.
Links away from here
The footer links to profiles on X, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok. Those are separate services with their own privacy policies and their own tracking, and this policy stops at the edge of this site.
Children
This site is not directed at children, and it publishes horror fiction intended for adults.
Your data
We do not hold any, so there is nothing to request, correct or delete. If you believe otherwise, write and we will look into it.
Changes
If the site ever starts collecting anything, this page will say so before it does, and the date below will change.
